HELLO AGAIN
It has been a while since I have written a blog. My life took a different turn, when at my advanced age my first grandchild was born in April 3 ’13. She is wonderful and I am entirely smitten. She has the 23rd chromosome, meaning that she has Downs. She had open heart surgery in July so he had a slow start. She is now 10 months old and just wonderful, and funny. We call her our little clown, for she keeps us laughing. She has had several overnights with grandma and grandpa. In November I kept her for 5 days while mommy and daddy had their second honeymoon. Then we had again in January for 5 days when mommy and daddy had the flu. My daughter-in-love has not gotten her driver’s license so I have been taking her and the baby to appointments. I am happy to do so. It gives me a sense of usefulness.
What with all the changes in my life I thought it wise to retire from my volunteer position as painting teacher. A position I have had for 14 years. I wanted to be free to be available when needed to take my grandchild to any time that was needed.

I have also been enjoying making things for my grandchild. I have written 6 books for her. I have made her teaching toys.
I made hand puppets hoping to help
with verbiage. As of today my granddaughter is mute. We got her, her first
library card two weeks ago. Her mother is an avid reader. She puts my
granddaughter to bed for a nap and night time with the alphabet playing on the
computer. I belive she will be a very clever little girl.

OUR MIRACLE
I don’t know how long it has been since I wrote a blog, but I can tell you it has been an interesting ride. We had our first grandchild born on April 3rd. She was born with a birth defect. She had two huge holes in her heart that were convoluted. So we have had to be so careful not to tire her. The Doctors wanted to wait until she had some weight on her before they did surgery. The surgery would in tell them to use the flesh around her heart to build the walls in her heart. At age 3 months six days she went to the amazing Cooks Children’s Hospital here in Fort Worth Texas. She had the top man in his field to do the surgery. Dr. Tam is the most down to earth kind and humble man with amazing skill. When you think about it, it is a scary thing to give over your baby to surgery, Much less open heart surgery. What amazed me when it was over and I began to reflect back was the amazing peace we felt during the 7and half hours of waiting, was the absolute peace. Keira and we were on the hearts of thousands around the globe. We felt like the ‘Lifebuoy ‘ad in the ‘70’s we felt like we were walk 18 inches off the floor, in a pot of honey. That is the peace we felt. Knowing that all was going to be well, and our little granddaughter would grow up to be a beautiful amazing person, with a brand new heart.

2013 ANNUAL ART SHOW AND SALE
As you know each year in t he month of May I give my art class an art Show and Sale. I get a professional judge. We have a really nice reception. The students bring lots of finer food. They make a beautiful table. There is always entertainment. We give each a certificate for participating. We have beautiful ribbons. Fun is had by all
This year was is no exception. We had the most generous judge. I found him through a friend of my daughter’s hair dresser. He had a piece of his work in her salon. He is a full time artist and does the most beautiful and unusual work .Go by and take a peek. Brad.bradjensenart.com
On another front I have been enjoying being a grandmother. I am telling you she is precious. I have been keeping her while mommy and daddy go to church. Her mother invited us over to celebrate her one month birthday, on Friday when I came in the door I was greeted by she and her mother. She was wearing a pink tutu and a ribbon headband on her head. I just went ballistic she was just darling. One month is significate because she has a huge hole in her little heart. She will have surgery in about a month maybe two. I know why GOD did not let me be a grandmother when I was younger. HE knew I would be so foolish smiles

WHAT HAPPENED IN APRIL
You have probably been wondering what happened to SandysColoringbox! Well I am a grandmother for the first time. And at my age I just cannot get enough of her. The poor little darling was born on the 3rd of April with a hole in her heart. I was just amazed that she never cried and she slept all the time. I could not get to wake up. When she was a week old I was keeping her while Mommy could get a good nights sleep. But while Mommy and Daddy went to the grocery store and she started panting 80 times a minute. I said to my son this does not look normal. My son called the Dr. he had us rush her to the emergency room. We were there all night, she was admitted to the neo-natal ward where there was a team who took care of only 2 babies for each team. She was there a week. That is were they discovered her heart condition. So I have been grandmother all the time.
I haven’t done anything creative except to conduct my painting class once a week. We are about to have our 13th annual art show. I have a show chairman this year so that if I have to be gone the (show) will go on.

SEVENTH BEAD SOUP BLOG PARTY
Oh My it is finally the day to reveal our creations. WELCOME come on in and have a peep. I have been sitting on pins and needles eager to reveal my creation made with Diane Wilty’s handmade ceramic beads and focal. At Lilyweed She also sent copper wire wrap latch and lovely glass beads. Here is what she sent me.
I did not have to ponder long to realize what I wanted to do with her creations. I have learned so much from Lori Anderson’s creation so I tried to reflect that with my bracelet.
I stacked the ceramic beads with copper beads adding to a copper chain I did a little wire wrap with some of the ‘cheerio’ type beads.
I also used wire wrap to create some free form additions to the bracelet. I used the star bead to secure the focal with a left over piece of a copper closure.
“This would also look good as a necklace” so I took a cord and used wire wrap to secure the ends so that the bracelet could extended to a necklace. I love it. I hope you do as well.
