The Value of Lifetime Friends

I m so blessed to have a chosen family of friends. We met in Lubbock in 1961 and have remained friends ever since. We have helped each other through so many hard times when we were first married and very young families. (Our own families were non-existent.) We have had regular reunions through the years. One family lives in Austin Texas, one lives in Tennessee, some of the families live in N.J. one lives in Settle Wa., one lives in Graham TX, and one remained in Lubbock TX where it all started. Two families live here in the mid-cities of the DFW metro-plex.
Oh what fun I have had last week.

My friend, who is like a sister, came from Austin on Sunday the 14th. Then we took a flight to Chattanooga on Tuesday the 16th to visit our mutual friend who is also like a sister. She lost her husband in January and the friend from Austin lost her husband 15 months ago. We spent a week cheering each other up.
We spent the week doing, really nothing special just sitting in the kitchen peeling potatoes and apples and making dinner and giggling. One night we went to a Mexican restaurant for a party and danced to a live band. The friend’s grandson came from college in Knoxville to take us dancing to a live band I thought that was just awesome. There was a Karaoke at the band’s breaks. The daughters and the grandson all got up and sang. Each sang separately. They were very good.

I am happy to be home and ready to get back in the swing of things.
